Gran Canaria: A detox destination

By February 4, 2015 Travels

Gran-Canaria-spas

Few months ago I went to Gran Canaria, but not to only enjoy the 25 degrees it as has all year round, the beach and the shopping, but its wellness. I found out that the Spanish island has a wide variety of spas and treatments, for all budgets and ages.

So I thought of whizzing over the best bits of this experience, as a perfect destination to escape this freezing cold winter and pamper yourself with a detox kind of destination, under the sunny weather, in Europe.

I’ve already shared some tips about Gran Canaria and told you all about the hotel where I stayed with all its facilities and amazing food HERE, but here’s all about the spas, treatments and their awesome ocean views – I even got wrapped in algae! Come join me and take a trip to the sea…

Gloria Palace Hotel

I mean, this Thalassotherapy pool…

The good thing is that we were up for it (as if we would even think it twice…)

However, all the hotel facilities were espectacular

I tried the Algae Wrap and it got pretty hot, it stink, but my skin felt so gooood and sooooft afterwards! (worth it)

But between trying one spa and another, a submarine break with Gran Canaria Blue is pretty tempting…

Cordial Canaria was a different kind of spa. Small, but cozy and very green. A family friendly hotel with a luxurious escape for grown ups.

And then the detoxing trip closed with my favourite spa, Lopesan Villa Del Conde

It has an amazing ocean view… Wait, let me say that again: A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

Then you are welcome to enjoy the spa’s facilities, which are just great. Plenty of modern spaces and seawater pools, outdoors facilities with pools and sun terrace too.

Gran Canaria was just so very lovely. With wellness becoming one of things the island’s is getting more known for, trying these spots was a tick on my bucketlist. Still, wanting to come back (specially in this weather).

Victoria’s Secret Show London 2014

By December 9, 2014 Catwalk, Celebrities, Events

IMG_0811

This time last week I was over excited because I was attending the Victoria’s Secret Show 2014 in London, the first one ever in the British capital and the second one in Europe (first one was in Cannes in 2010). I met the gorgeous Angels backstage and then saw them giving it all on the runway, followed by an awesome after party. What an amazing experience it was! The music performances of the show were Taylor Swift (performed twice) , Ariana Grande (who nailed it), Ed Sheeran (yeah, they needed they red-haired British boy) and Hozier.

It was incredible to see up close what goes behind all the massive production of world’s biggest catwalk show and the power behind the lingerie empire. I was covering some bits for The Independent, and HERE you can see some of our coverage as insiders!

Tonight you can watch the show at 10pm on CBS, but first take a sneak peek below from my iPhone diary and in my video below! Enjoy!

Gran Canaria: Spa & Wellness Seaside Palm Beach

By November 28, 2014 Lifestyle, Travels

seaside-pool2It might be winter already, but when you thought the sun was far, far away, it actually still shines in Gran Canaria (25 degrees all year round). In fact, its high season is just right now.

I went to the Spanish island recently to try it’s wellbeing -and oh dear, there are some amazingly good spas out there, for every budget. Just picture this: sun, ocean view, treatments, Thalassotherapy and lots and lots of delicious food (and smoothies). Did I say all this happened under the sun? Oh yeah, sorry. What can possibly go wrong?

I’ll begin with Spa & Wellness Seaside Palm Beach, which is the first member of “Design Hotels” on the Canary Islands, and where we stayed. The rooms are just perfect for the endless summer mood -some with ocean view. The hotel is walking distance from the beach, offers amazing food and it’s got a variety of salt water pools with massage-jets, sun loungers, a petite but cozy spa with natural light, and even a specified nudist zone for the free spirits visiting the island. And if you’re seeking the full detox experience, the hotel also has three different saunas and a steaming room.

In three days we scouted about five different hotels as we experienced their in-house spas and top services for relaxation, detox and enjoyment.

Embrace autumn with a Warehouse tartan dress

By October 10, 2014 OUTFITS 1

warehouse-dress6It’s getting chilli and autumn is here, meaning only one thing: Winter is coming. But, come on let’s embrace it. I’m quite into the autumn collections this year – a lot- and oh how much love for layering.

Politics aside, tartan is back this season and is to be seen everywhere for the next months, from high-street to designers. So, I thought of kicking off the season with this pretty navy checked dress from Warehouse. Besides the sixties-inspired shape, I’m in love with the details: the zipper pockets and the leather-look collar. Unquestionably, it would also look fabulous with tights on colder days.
