Interview with Dondup’s men’s designer Kevin J Morley
Sep 4th
Let me introduce you to a South Londoner that ended up in the small Italian town of Fossombrone doing what he loves, designing clothes. Kevin James Morley is the men’s designer of Dondup, an Italian brand that is spreading around the world and invading top stores such as Harvey Nichols in London. I went to the showroom of their new collection and it is fabulous with an interesting inspirtation. Check it out! Enjoy this afro designer that have added an amazing touch to the brand.
How a South Londoner ends up in the Italian town of Fossombrone?
I arrived in Fossombrone at the request of Dirk Bikkembergs , Belgian designer. He saw some of my work and liked it. I was ready for a new challenge and wanted to go to Italy to learn and improve.
Did you first get into fashion while living in London?
I have always been interested in clothing and it’s power from a very young age. Influenced by what I saw and experienced, I learned quickly that dressing “correctly” is important.
Harvey Nichols’ displays in the making

Displays are always a key thing for every store , no matter what their products are, the point is that they need to be attractive enough to invite you to come in. Particularly in London, department stores such as Selfridges in Oxford Street and Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge are very well know for having amazing, colourful and creative displays that blindly welcomes you to the store.
However, the building of such fantastic window schemes are almost out of our view unless you step by at the exact moment they are working on it, and that was precisely what happened to me.
TheFashionInsideOut brings you the Harvey Nichol’s displays in the making and consequently the artistic results. Because, honestly, more than showing their products, displays are simply a piece of ART.
As the cold weather is embracing the city, we can’t expect bright colours, but we can feel an autumn atmosphere, full of falling leaves from trees, camel, brown, black and white colours. And of course, style.
I personally think that this season Harvey Nichols’ team did a fantastic job. With a variety of lights and sense of a lost wild forest it traps you in a place full of fashionable adventures, let’s say it is a spot similar to Alice’s Wonderland.
