New in: Modalu Pippa combo
May 16th
I might be becoming one of Modalu’s ambassadors, but you also know how much I love their designs, in particular the Pippa line. You have seen so many different models from this label in here, from different seasons, different shapes and styles. However, I’m now introducing you to a new perfect combo of this affordable luxury leather label! The mini Pippa and the Pippa wallet in cherry colour (they’ve got them in grey, black, tan…).
I have a crush for the mini handbags collections that came out this season from both high end and high street brands, so this mini one, which in fact is not so mini, works just perfect. For sure another Modalu handbag you’ll be seeing here a lot.
‘Fury’ behind the shoes
Jan 30th
Yesterday I met a hot, very hot, shoe brand, that only with its name you could get the soul in every design: ‘FURY’. Not only that, I also met its London-based swedish talented designer Lisen Magnusson, who invited me to an exclusive visit to her showroom, which is decorated with tigers and photos of a shoe in flames (amazing shoot of the shoes on fire for real, not a Photoshop effect!). This was my first encounter with Fury, and here you can get a flavour of all the collections since it launched in 2010, including top quality ankle boots – heeled and flat, sandals and pumps made of leather, suede and python. And yes, a couple of furious bracelets! With a rock chic spirit and lots of fury, Lisen has achieved a collection of gorgeous shoes, unique, yet wearable and most important, comfortable (yes, I did try them on and they hold the feet so nicely -tempting!) Something very special about them is the attention to detail on every design; the studs, chains and as you can see, zippers have a sort of arrow inspired by a sword from a Swedish myth. Guess my two favourite? The flat ankle boots and the heeled platform shoe-boot in black embossed leather. What do you think?
My Modalu Pippa handbag
Dec 22nd
When the Modalu Pippa handbag came out my mom spotted and bought the black one for my birthday present about 2 years ago (it wasn’t even called Pippa by then). Then Pippa Middleton was caught wearing it everywhere and its popularity went up to the roof. I then started seeing it on lots of girls in London town, but the truth is that I could understand the love for it. It’s great leather quality, affordable luxury and the most comfortable and versatile handbag I’ve ever had really. You have seen it in sooo many outfits, so I put them together in this collage, realising that I have used it for two years in every season, fashion weeks, meetings and travelling… What a handbag!
I know lots of my wonderful followers have bought it, so for you and for new Modalu lovers I’ve got great news! They have an online sale now (perfect for last minute gifts). And the Shark colour is at a great price! I know that’s great to know about the hot sales going on so here’s my little sale secret today!
Meanwhile, I’m about to get on the plane on my way to Denver! Some good skiing awaits for me at Vail… See you at the snow!
Kristen: New practical and beautiful Modalu
Oct 13th
Remember that Modalu handbag on yesterday’s post? This was one of my favourite pieces from the the Spring/Summer 13 collection, which is inspired by the British equestrian that is so much adored in England. This is the Kristen grab with shoulder strap (just perfect to have both to grab or hang like in this outfit!) in black leather with suede quilting. It was first spotted during London Fashion Week on British actress Tolula Adeyemi and now I have the exclusivity of presenting here on FashionInsideOut!
Modalu introduces this new classic squared shape mixing leather with suede and adding lovely silver details, such as the delicate lock with the iconic shell and its keys. Kristen is simply a practical and beautiful design wearable with different looks on any season. It will also be available in a gorgeous and happy orange leather.

Outfit of the day: Blue & yellow
May 18th
Remember when I showed you the collection Superheroine Chic of Liz Black? There I spotted this set of skirt and shirt of colour blocking, which again mixing textures by adding those awesome shoulder sleeves of yellow leather. As you can see the pictures were taken in a hallway of a London’s offices building, so although that’s not the idea, the look goes for a modern and chic business woman right? Yes, above all, chic. The metal necklace, designed by Liz’ sister, gives the young touch, and the shoes and handbag the sporty one. So, are we meeting at your office? Have a lovely Friday!

British heritage meets modern Chelsea with Modalu AW12
Apr 28th
Ok so the big question here is: What’s the fuzz about this new label called Modalu? I first spotted it about a year ago, when I bought my ‘Pippa’ bag online (previously known as ‘Bristol’) but as soon as Pippa Middleton appeared in pictures wearing it, it just went out of stock, sales went up to the roof, brand got bigger and new collections became just too tempting. With the sense of affordable luxury, it has become the accessible brand of quality leather bags.
Last Thursday I went to the preview of their AW12 collection, and as I mentioned on yesterday’s post, I left impressed after seeing the wide variety of shapes, colours and textures they presented, including sumptuous fabrics combined with leather and suede.
After my visit I really wanted to share with you the entire Modalu’s latest collection… Inspired in the London society and British elite, it offers different sizes of day and night bags, purses and make-up cases. My favourite piece was the ‘Tyler’ bag in the shark colour (see photo), which inspired in Elizabeth Taylor has an elegant shape, strap, gem twist lock and an amazing mix of leather, fine frame paneling and suede… just gorgeous! According to Modalu it is THE bag of the season. The Pippa grab bag, the one everyone goes gaga about, surprised me with bright colours such as fucshia and emerald green, which can certainly make the outfit cool and happy.
Also, this time Modalu introduces print, tartan and bouclé, all in a classy way, keeping the traditional and timeless designs. Expanding even more its collection, it includes the tie & dye trend that has been on for so long with unique pieces that are hand sprayed on ‘Henley‘ bag’s leather.
And last but not least, it comes with a complete different indian/cowboy style as it presents the ‘Cheyenne’ line, identified by its saddle shaped shoulder bags with embossed leather and woven handle. Modalu it’s definitely a label that worths paying for at affordable prices for top quality creations. If you fall in love with one of these pieces, like me, the new collection should be on their website by May, and you can also go to London’s department stores such as Peter Jones and Harvey Nichols, who are now selling Modalu.
Thanks to Modalu’s lovely ladies for such a nice afternoon and presentation of AW12! I want them all… Overall, I think I’d go for the shark Tyler and emerald green Pippa… Which is your favourite piece? Have a great weekend!!!
Outfit of the day: Denim and leather
Mar 19th
I love the combination of leather with denim. It looks stylish and can work with so many different accessories for opposite looks, either rock chic, casual -like this one,-sporty, elegant or boyish.
Probably you remember I recently wore this exact leather-jean combination, but this time I was first, in a rush and second, going for an absolute casual and comfortable outfit. So, I just changed the shoes, the necklace (this one for an extra leather splash) and the coat, plus, I wore my sunnies and tied my hair up. Voila, ready to go! These two key pieces are always in, no matter the season, so a nice mix of them will always work. Make sure you keep them in your wardrobe. At least the leather jacket that always saves the look!
Hope you all had an amazing weekend and kick-start your week full of energy! Good luck with those meetings and to-do-lists!
Perfect tailoring: Todd Lynn AW 12 collection
Feb 19th
An outstanding mix of tough tailoring with the hotness of fur and leather embraced the catwalk of Todd Lynn’s show at London Fashion Week yesterday. Unique blazers, sharp geometric shapes, V cuts, leather gloves combined with browns, blacks and greys colours showcased his Fall 2012 collection called “Kitsch”.
Inspired in The Renaissance, Mayan mysticism and the Brothers Grimm, the Canadian designer brings his classic elegance and clean tailoring to vigorous ladies that have a chic spirit and powerful sense.
I’m not a big fan of workwear, and Lynn’s collections are not surprisingly different. But although he followed his -expected- classic line of molding silhouettes, the show was fabulous and the collection was stunning, as he achieved his ‘corrupted elegance’. I absolutely loved that fur coat, the fur vest crossed at the back, and the so much leather that gives a rock and roll touch to so much elegance. I would simply resume Lynn’s new collection in three words: strong, elegant and aristocratic.
