Picture of the day: A garden in hell
May 21st
When I went to the Design Museum last week I also spotted this piece from Mary Katrantzou’s A/W11 displayed at the gallery. Curious enough about it I found out it is informed by ‘objets d’art’ collected by wealthy women, with the inspiration of this garment coming from the forms and patterns of 18th century Chinese Qianlong dynasty ceramics and porcelain. These highly intricate textiles were re-shaped for a woman’s form, including a constructed underskirt that creates a strong silouhette. The materials used are hammered silk and cotton printed fabric, helping achieve the mix of senses that Katrantzou aimed. She imagined herself entering the famed New York apartment of former American Vogue editor Diana Vreeland, decorated like ‘a garden in hell’. So do you imagine hell like this print?
Picture of the day: Insane shoes
Apr 6th
I know these shoes are insane, but there’s something about Finsk I just love and found absolutely cool in every design. A pair of these are one of those unique pieces you keep in your wardrobe for days of ‘me, me and me’! Love all its wedges’ designs and the colourful shapes at the back. The new collection keeps the classic geometric cuts on the platforms, check it out here. Have a lovely Good Friday and enjoy the holidays wherever you are!
Picture of the day: Dondup’s brogues
Mar 24th
Lately I have been in a boyish mood, obsessed with sexy brogues, that I find so cool! Menswear has been inspiring some looks. I found this pair of white leather brogues from the Italian label Dondup’s Spring/Summer 12 collection. They are so classy, elegant and stylish… And those shoelaces give such a different touch, a spirit of a marine, boats and yatchs: the life we all dream about during summer! Have you got brogues shoes?
Pitcure of the day: Shine your Sunday
Mar 4th
It has been raining literally all day, so it makes the Sunday even more lazy than usual (although I work on Sundays). So, I woke up thinking I want to be somewhere warm and sunny right now… trying to be realistic, somewhere close, because to be honest, for me, there’s no better place than Los Roques in Venezuela, P-A-R-A-D-I-SE. However, I thought of this amazing spot I went to last year in Canary Islands. After getting a bus from the centre of Las Palmas, Gran Canaria and a long walk, I ended up in this wonderful turquoise beach in this place called Puerto Rico. Loved it! … Just to shine our Sunday a bit on this side of the world.
Picture of the day: Game of handcrafted leather
Jan 28th
I was well attracted by the uniqueness and of course the mix of colours and textures of this shoulder bag named ‘Folded Heart’. I recently discovered this American label, Ruby Firecat, founded by Ruby, who has her studio in the mountains of Southern Arizona where she designs and produces handmade bags. Three layers of leather and suede make this piece fun and unique… Woohoo, it’s Saturday…Enjoy your weekend!

Picture of the day: Fun charms
Dec 6th
These golden necklaces have REAL functions. These are from Sophie Hulme’s collection, they are so particularly ‘unique’ and fun. Couldn’t decide which one is my favourite, but I think I’m between the pen and the bubble maker (first two left). Love the whistle though, but I can have a very loud voice already, so that’s a nono for me.
Which one do you like the most?
