Yesterday I joined a great group of family and friends (ladies only) in one of the best plans -I jumped in a limo and head off to Ascot in Berkshire for the Royal Ascot’s Ladies Day. Expecting rain all day, we were extremely lucky to just see gray skies followed by a bit of sunlight, so hats were on and everything was in control. I’m not a not a gambler really, but who would decline an invitation to the so much awaited horse event of the year where fashion, sport and royalty meet. I went first a couple of years ago and being back was just much fun! The Queen, in purple, arrived, the races kicked off and for the Queen’s greatest surprise, her horse called Estimate won the Gold Cup (you’ve never seen her SO smiley).
Besides the horse race and the betting, there’s so much so see and enjoy around. The whole atmosphere is a whole film brought to life, a lovely tradition of an entertaining day of bars, restaurants, picnics, out of this world beautiful horses, hats, hats, hats hats and more hats…. and to be honest, that’s my favourite bit, it’s part of the concept itself.
Get into the atmosphere and check out all the pictures I took to share with you guys, and of course some of the so many hats I spotted around, just in case you are planning to go sometime soon and are wondering what to wear. On the next post, you’ll see the entire look of my ‘last minute’ outfit, although here’s a sneak peek. Leave you with an Ascot taste on Friday happy day!
The Queen arrives…
